The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc)  is engaged in cleaning sewers, streams, and drains, in sectors that tend to have recurring floods during the rainy season.

The operations are carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Works, community boards, and the Urban and Home Cleaning Authority.

Carlos Rumbo, director of the entity, said that the most important of the activities is to sensitize people and instill in them not to throw garbage, or waste in the sewers or rivers. He added that 75% of sewer collapses are due to the accumulation of garbage.

The operations began in the Juan Díaz district on March 27.

Dumpster fire didn't call all Panamanians apes just the ones throwing trash down the storm drains. A distinction lost on most. As far as Texrealt's comments, people who live in Panama have a right to complain about what's not proper. You can't expect any change or improvement by being politically correct and supporting ignorant policies and behaviors. When I see people throwing trash and beer bottles from vehicles (almost daily) I call them names worse than ape! grow up Texrealt no one gives a damn about your feelings or your "woke" values!

John... you gotta be joking..$500 dollar fine? They will never pay it. Some dont have. Others dont care. Dumpster fire, your right except for the name calling. The main reason for the floods, per the official in the article, is people throwing trash into the drains and sewer. Behind a bus full of kids once and out the window went the wrappers, etc. Texrealt... Dumpster fire wrote nada about the country. He just stated a fact... he coutove left the name calling out. You, Texrealt, you must be one of those rednecks from Tex ass... why did you move here and maintain your Tex name?

Oh ya

It starts with the parents teaching their kids... Ok that was the joke of the day. Not going to happen in our lifetime. Ok start giving larger fines.... Ok that was another joke. The cops would just get richer taking bribes. I guess we live with it

Every year with the first rain the city floods because the filthy apes throw their trash down the storm drains. They should be cleaning out the storm drains now ahead of the rain but they won't and then it will be big news at 5pm, the city flooded again. This country is barely functional. They can't keep the lights and water on much less anything else.
