President, Laurentino Cortizo, will travel on Friday, November 11, to  Houston, Texas, for a medical follow-up to his first trip made in July.

Cortizo was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome and will be evaluated in the United States

This is because of the low-risk myelodysplasia that was diagnosed by his doctors. Myelodysplasia refers to a group of disorders related to the body's inability to produce enough normal blood cells. These cells are produced by the bone marrow, the spongy material inside bones.

The Presidency said that this is the first medical evaluation that Cortizo will undergo, after starting the treatment recommended by specialists at MD Anderson in Houston.

A  Presidency statement said that the Panamanian president "is in good health."

Cortizo, 69, will travel on the presidential plane and will remain in the United States until Thursday, November 17, the day he will return to Panama.
