A criminal gang  that stole cars at gunpoint  was dismantled by the Directorate of Judicial Investigation

(DIJ), in an operation that took place on Tuesday night, September 17.

The DIH  deputy director, Manuel Bonome, said that numerous gang members who operated in exclusive city areas and in various parts of the interior were  arrested.

The thieves stole the vehicles and after altering the chassis and engine numbers offered them for sale at low prices through the Internet and social networks.

An investigation is underway to see if there was the participation of municipal officials in the alteration of the documents of the stolen cars.

The arrests were made at a residence in the Villa Lucre sector where five cars were recovered.
