The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) issued a new prevention notice Saturday in the face of bad weather forecasts for the coming days.

The notice extends until Monday, August 29, due to the entry into the country of tropical wave 30 of the season.

The monitoring and surveillance actions are for the entire national territory, including both maritime sectors, due to moderate to intense rains that will be accompanied by electrical activity, according to the forecasts of the Hydrometeorology Directorate of the Electric Transmission Company SA

“Tropical wave 30 will bring rainy events and significant storms over the national territory. The possibility of gusty winds is not ruled out. In addition to this, there is a trough moving from Venezuela and Puerto Rico towards our region, generating an area of disturbance over the Caribbean Sea and large areas with rains and storms in South America”, the Sinaproc report details.

The entity recalled that August and November is the rainiest period of the year, to which is added the La Niña phenomenon, which could intensify these events in the country.

Sinaproc reiterated the call to the population to be aware of the levels of the rivers and streams while avoiding bathing and crossing the tributaries.
