The 10-month-old baby burned in the gas explosion late    Friday night at PH Costa Mare, in Costa Sur, Don Bosco, died in the Hospital del Nino (Children’s Hospital)) burns  Sunday, June 2.  

The baby had burns to 87%  of his body. His five-year-old brother with burns to 68% of his body remains in critical condition. The 35-year old mother detained in a private hospital is in delicate condition. The family is Venezuelan and the expat community is raising funds to cover medical costs.

The explosion injured 14 people, rendered the apartment block uninhabitable and damaged four nearby buildings.
