Images circulating on social media show three young people singing in the backseat of a car, minutes before it crashed killing two and sending three to hospital with serious injuries.

One of the injured died in hospital.

The accident  happened at   11:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 25  on the Domingo Díaz road, at the entrance to  the San Antonio neighborhood, in the direction of San Miguelito

Early reports say that the car was struck from behind by another vehicle leading to the driver losing control and hitting a utility pole, leaving homes in the vicinity without electrical power.

The car was totally destroyed. The accident brings the total of  highway deaths in Panama this year to 176.
