Police Commissioner  and Lieut Believed Linked to Killer’s Jail Break

A National Police Commissioner of the National Police (PN) have been suspended  from their posts while  investigations  continue into  whether they are linked to the escape of multi- killer Gilberto Ventura Ceballos,

An administrative investigation of  Commissioner  Luis Ortiz and a Lieutenant Edwin Bonilla is underway  and they will not be able to exercise their functions until the process by the Professional Responsibility Directorate of the PN ends.

On February 4, police. press release said  that "there are indications recorded in the security cameras of the prison that in this evasion there was participation of police assigned to the security of the prison, who have been separated from the police function."

Ventura Ceballos was recaptured on  Thursday, February 13 in El Salado, Remedios district Chiriquí, less than 150 kilometers from the border with Costa Rica.

On Friday in a residence in Bugaba, Chiriquí, a search was made and communication items are allegedly related to support for the movement of the murderer,  were found.

Everything indicates that Ceballos wanted to reach Costa Rica, where he took refuge between 2016 and 2017 after a previous escape.

 

When he was arrested, Ventura Ceballos was under a bridge near a private estate and carried a communications radio, a flashlight, binoculars and $ 700 in cash.

The crimes of Ventura Ceballos in Panama were committed between 2010 and 2011.when five students were kidnapped and killed.
