Panama faces unique water challenges

At a time when the country is grappling with the challenges of maintaining water supplies for the operation of the Canal and supplying a growing population, while faced with extended droughts, over, 1000 delegates will attend the 2019 World Hydraulics Congress in Panama from September 1 to 6 with water security and resilience as the main focus.

The activity, which will attract the international leaders of the industry, also seeks to analyze new technologies used in aquatic administration, says the National Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senacyt).

One of the main workshops that will be the "Water Security: Identification of key areas of vulnerability and improvement of resilience", which will be presented by the director of Global Disaster Management, Humanitarian Assistance and National Security of the University of South Florida in the United States, Anthony Masys.

Also participating will be the Vice President of Traffic Business and designated Deputy Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), Ilya Espino de Marotta, who will present the first chapter of young people affiliated with the International Association for the Research of Hydro-Sciences (IAHR) in Panama.
