THE EXCHANGE of visitors between Panama and Colombia has become cheaper and easier with the introduction of low cost flights  by competing airlines..

Air Panama will started flying between Medellin and Panama City on July 4. Initially the flights will be operated three times a week but the airline plans to increase the number of flights to seven times a week and expand to other cities like Cali or somewhere on the coast.
From August 1 the low cost airline VivaColombia will operate a daily frequency from Bogota to Panama City and four a week from Medellin.
The flights will be in two formats, an everyday roundtrip service during daylight hours between Bogota and Panama and on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, at night between Medellin and Panama City.
