In Panama, there are 400,000 undernourished people, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The vast majority is in the indigenous regions. These indicators have stagnated since 2015, and it shows in aspects such as poor school performance.

Hunger is robbing us of a generation of infants and children in rural areas. But this condition also affects the cities of the country. While in the regions 60% of children under five years of age have growth delays, in urban areas of Panama that figure is almost 20%. It is unjustifiable that in the country of the Metro lines of $2 billion each, there is even one child hungry. The current government has promised to launch a “study without hunger” program.
