The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) issued a green alert for about eight provinces on Tuesday, until Thursday, August 26 forecasting constant rains.

The alert covers the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Coclé, Colón, Chiriquí, Herrera, Veraguas, Los Santos, Panamá Oeste and the Ngäbe Buglé region.

The measure is taken due to the increase in significant rains, electrical storms and possible windy conditions to be registered in the next few days in the country, according to the forecasts of the Electric Transmission Company SA (Etesa).

Sinaproc also reported that the National Hurricane Center of Miami activated surveillance protocols on the coasts of the Central American Caribbean due to the possibility of a tropical wave moving and generating a cyclone in the area.

"So far the possibility is 50% with a tendency to continue increasing this probability," it was reported.
