Giacomo Tamburelli,  the former director of the National Aid Program (PAN), and businessman Roberto Carretero were declared guilty of embezzlement by The Third Criminal Liquidation Court on December 16 and sanctioned them 4 years in prison and as an accessory penalty, the prohibition for the exercise of public functions for a term of two years was imposed.

According to the Public Ministry, the proven crime was committed through the irregular acquisition of musical instruments destined for the Ministry of Education, through the PAN.

The events occurred between 2009 and 2014 when purchase orders were issued for the acquisition of musical instruments and their distribution.

However, no documentation was found in the files located at the Ministry of Education to certify the distribution of the assets to the different educational centers.
