The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) issued a prevention warning of swell and high tides in the Panamanian Pacific.

The lifeless body of a 19-year-old man who had been reported missing on Río Mar beach in San Carlos on Sunday was located by members of the National Air Naval Service with the help of fishermen.

The young man was swept away by a wave while enjoying the beach with two friends who were rescued.

Members of Sinaproc said that the waves were strong and the tide was high, and they warned that the phenomenon of waves and high tides will continue until April 29.

According to the surveillance notice, the swell will be valid until Thursday, April 29, and the maximum tides until May 1.

Waves will oscillate from 0.6 to 1.8 meters in height and periods of 17 seconds, reflecting an increase for April 28 and 29, especially in the Gulf of Chiriquí, South of Veraguas, Los Santos, Gulf, and Bay of W. Panama.

Sinaproc explained that at the bottom sea is a long and continuous-wave generated by storms at sea

The entity recommends being aware of the waves that may occur, removing the furniture and equipment from the beach area, removing and safeguarding small boats, not doing water sports and if you live near coastal areas, if those waves occur, look for a safe place.
