A SPEEDING Diablo Rojo (Red Devil) bus plunged off the road and down a steep embankment sending an unspecified number of its 55 terrified passengers to an emergency room. The Benemérito Fire Department transferred the injured to a hospital in San Juan, Colón.
It is really a miracle more aren't killed. We live just off the Pan-American and are on it an average of 3 times a day. never do we have a trip without seeing at least 3 speeding "official" vehicles and 4 buses (Diablo or other) buses speeding. At least 4 have faulty lights (or NO brake lights) or some other disabling problem. Probably no more than a third would pass in any country that had any kind of safety inspection system. Some have no license plates or expired placas. They almost NEVER, official or otherwise, signal.
