After a four-day trial Gualaca parish priest, Aristides Rodríguez Otero, 58, was found guilty of the crimes of Libidinous Acts, Obscene Exhibitionism, and Sexual Rape to the detriment of a minor under 5 who was a nephew and godson. The Prosecutor's Office requested a sentence of 38 years in prison.

The Chiriquí Trial Court found him guilty and the magistrates will read the sentence on August 18.

The Prosecutor's Office requests a sentence of 180 months for aggravated rape; 144 months for exhibitionism 144 and 72 for lewd acts.

The events occurred on April 11, 2021, and the complaint was filed in October of that year.
