Andrés Gutiérrez Bonilla, 54,director-general of the Panama prison system, died  from Covid-19 on Saturday  reports, the Ministry of Government

Gutiérrez Bonilla had started work as director of the prison system in December 2020.

He was a graduate of the University of Panama, where he obtained a degree in law and political science. He had specialties in criminal investigation, higher education, and police.

He was a retired officer, from the Directorate of Judicial Investigation of the National Police.
