President names former prosecutor as Attorney General

President  Laurentino Cortizo announced on Tuesday, December 10  that  former criminal prosecutor Eduardo Rubén Ulloa will replace Attorney General Kenia Porcell,  on January 1 and will hold office until 2024  when her term was due to expire

Former  organized  crime prosecutor, Javier Caraballo will be the alternate Attorney General.

Mónica Castillo , current General Secretary of the Office of   Attorney General of the Administration will become the substitute for Rigoberto González in this institution.

The designation of Ulloa comes after a selection process that according to President Cortizo was similar to that used for the appointment of the principal and alternate magistrates of the Supreme Court.

The appointments must still be ratified by the National Assembly.
