Any frequent traveler has a cornucopia of "you'll never believe"stories linked to airport experiences but this one  (not fake news) must be a first.
AN AIRLINE that on its website promises luxurious travel with a friendly welcoming staff had to get cabin crew to go around cap in hand to collect money from passengers to pay for repairs before a plane could take off from Beijing Airport, early this week.

According to reports in Polish media, a mechanic demanded  cash in order to repair  a damaged hydraulic pump on  a Polish-flagged LOT Boeing 787 Dreamliner

The LOT employees collected 2,500 yuan ($360) from the passengers to repair the plane, a process that finally took10  hours.

LOT, returned the money to the passengers when they landed in Warsaw.

Airline   spokesman Adrian Kubicki, blamed the LOT representative in Beijing, saying he "should have brought cash and a credit card."  LOT flies three times a week from Warsaw to Beijing.
