Testing of Metro Line 2 trains for WYD

TESTING  of the new passenger carriages that will be used on  Line 2 of the Metro, with the arrival of the pilgrims for World Youth Day (WYD) just two weeks away is moving ahead.

On Monday night  January 7, tests were carried to verify mega mass transport work, to verify the functionality of the mega project.

Roberto Roy, secretary of the Metro, said that from January 14 to 17, blank tests without passengers will be carried out and on January 18  it must be fully operational as scores of thousands of pilgrims will be arriving that weekend.

There will be 12 carriages with five stations (San Miguelito, Cinquantenaire, San Antonio, Pedregal and the station in front of the Tocumen Airport), available to pilgrims for the celebration of WYD from January 22 to 27 Luis

Free Rides
Metro operations director Carlos Díaz, said Line 2 will be "free" during WYD. however, passengers must validate their card to enter the trains, although no cost will be generated.

Díaz recommends reloading the Panama Metro cards before the event to avoid getting caught in the  inevitable long lines.

Meanwhile, a total of 21 trains should be ready to operate by the end of April
