For those who have lost faith in what can be done for this country, it is an example that a swallow does herald summer. Danilo Perez could have abstracted from the sometimes sad and miserable national scene, and led his professional and even personal life in more educated societies, more receptive to his art and even more generous in the rewards offered to a musician. However, he has chosen to return, again and again. And he has done so with the vocation of an educator and with the passion of an artist.
