FORMER Minister Laurentino Cortizo will be the head of social issues for the Juan Carlos Navarro presidential campaign and in the next government said the PRD leader at an event attended by the party’s big guns.

Navarro said that, in the next government, Cortizo will be responsible for handling social issues such as the high cost of living and domestic food production.

The opposition candidate highlighted the work carried out by Cortizo as former minister and said he has a wide base of knowledge concerning the agricultural sector.
Cortizo said that people outside the party "wanted to see us divided, but we are multiplying. They wanted to weaken us, but today I can tell you that we have strengthened."
Navarro made the announcement at an event with his running mate Gerardo Solís, former presidents Ernesto Pérez Balladares and Martín Torrijos and former presidential candidate Balbina Herrera
