A high UV alert valid until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 26 was issued on Tuesday by the Electricity Transmission Company (Etesa).

In the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, Colon, Darién, Comarca Guna Yala and the maritime sector of the Panamanian Caribbean, very high rates of 8 to 9 will be recorded for periods of 14 to 18 minutes.

I n the provinces of Panama, Panama West, Coclé, Herrera, Los Santos, Veraguas and Chiriqui there will be extreme indexes of 11 or more for periods of 6 to 10 minutes.

The National Civil Protection  System (Sinaproc) recommends staying  hydrated and constant use of sunscreen.
