FOUR NEW cases of the potentially fatal hantavirus transmitted by rodents were reported in Los Santos on Tuesday, October 16 bringing the total recorded in the province this year to 77.

Carlos Muñoz, regional coordinator of epidemiology said that among the sick are two minors (one and four years old) from Las Tablas. to these cases are added a patient of 80 years and a man of 51 neighbors inPocri de Los Santos.

Muñoz clarified that fortunately, all four  people developed fever due to hantavirus, and not   the associated cardiopulmonary syndrome

This  year the Tonosí district reports 51 cases, Las Tablas 16, Pocri 5, Los Santos and Pedasí 2 cases each while Guararé reports only one.
