Deputys trial for teen highway death suspended

After an agreement of economic compensation, endorsed by the judge of guarantees, Harry Díaz,  the trial against  CD Deputy Mario Lázarus in the highway death of a 14-year old girl has been suspended.

Lazarus who is a medical doctor drove to his home after hitting the victim on December 20, 2017, before returning to the scene of the accident, by which time she had been taken to hospital where she later died.

Díaz agreed to the suspension of the process for three years because all the parties agreed with the conditions of the agreement. In addition, the precautionary measure of periodic reporting was lifted.

The agreement establishes that the  Colon deputy’s driving license is suspended

for three years and he must reside at the same address for the same time period.
