While Panama authorities have been bussing street indigents from Panama City to the interior in advance of World Youth Day,(WYD/JMJ),  better clothed local con-artists, recognizing a  new opportunity have filled the gap and are posing as pilgrims asking for money to solve a problem,

Male and female, they are operating  principally  in commercial areas in the capital  and the standard line is that the supplicant’s luggage, purse or wallet, and documents have been stolen and he or she needs money for necessities

RPC journalist Alvaro Alvarado alerted his radio audience about the fraudster activities . on Thursday, January 16

"Do not be fooled," warned the broadcaster, who explained that each pilgrim has an identification card, and moves in a group with a chaperone and is assigned to a center or a church.

Alvarado stressed that citizens suspecting a scam of this type should notify the National Police (PN).

I agree with and appreciate your thoughts on the WYD. In an effort to be congenial I will ignore your disparaging comment on liberal thinking since I have similar thoughts about conservatives ? Have a good day.

In this vein, a primer to help Seniors better understand the Youth Generation. Goes like this [dialog quote]: College Freshman: You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one. The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon. We have nuclear energy, ships and cell phones, computers with light speed ... and many more. Response from the Senior Citizen [dialog quote]: You're right son. We didn't have those things when we were young ... so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little sh*t what are you doing for the next generation? Probably the answer would be: Saving the environment, as though in their still arrogant mode, they think they can outmaneuver Mother Nature. Ha!

I cannot understand the concept of this World Youth Day. Can anyone explain what makes the youth so important that an event with Pilgrims (worshipers of youth?) travelling from all over is a worthy event. Or is it an event to worship the Pope, in which why not call it as it is: Pope Appreciation Day. Why special recognition of youth; why not recognize the worth of Senior Citizens with a day for them. The Pope could still make his appearance and would be more apropos consider he is a Senior. After all, our Seniors contributed more to society than a bunch of young people that have mostly lived with their parents or freeloaded off of subsidy for college education. Seems this is just another of the liberal ideas of making a segment of the population more important than others.
