Another construction site death

While government inspectors were still checking security measures at the Tower Rivage building on Avenida Balboa where a taxi driver died, another man was killed a few blocks away at another building site.
Again a crane was involved this time  at Star Bay, when metal tubes fell when a safety net was being moved..

The pipes struck three workers on the ground floor killing, Ivan Rocero Marmolejo His teammates Roy Benedict Omar Fuentes and Hernandez were hospitalized and are out of danger.

Rocero Marmolejo is the fourth worker to die so far in 2010. Last year, 18 died according to Saul Mendez, leader of the Construction Workers Union (SUNTRACS).
The municipal engineer, Juan Vasquez, ordered the suspension of both works. 

 Juan José Ríos, Traffic Operations Director, said  that when construction sites were moving heavy objects that  Invade the public highway, hey must request the presence of an agent to divert cars and must posti signs to inform passersby. 

Abdiel Sagel, director general of the Ministry of Labour Inspection, said he was working on a bill to increase the amount of fines  applied to companies not complying with security measures. 

The current penalty is $50 to $500. . 

With the modifications, the figure will rise from $10,000 TO $100,00. Sagel also promised to hire 300 inspectors. Today there are only 25
