Panama migration authorities have canceled more than 500 temporary residence permits for foreigners after detecting fraudulent documentation.

The discoveries were made after revelations of massive fraud by companies manipulating the online registration system linked to Social Security System (CSS) payments, costing the State millions of dollars.

Among the false data detected were "the amount of fees in the Social Security card, non-matching  details of salaries and  workers appearing  on  company payroll when  there is no employment relationship, and  certifications signed by Social Insurance officials lacking authenticity"

On Labor Day, Tuesday, May 1   the National Immigration Service,  said that the cancellation issued through an edict from the institution is unappealable and is supported by reports from the Social Security Fund.

"The names and data of those who had their permits canceled are detailed on our website, specifically, at the bottom of www.migracion.gob.pa, in banners highlighted as Notification Edicts," said the authority.

It warned that it will make "more cancellations" of temporary residence permits in Panama, "as soon as the Social Security Fund provides lists" that specify the alleged irregularities.
