More than 40 people seeking to enter Panama through cruise ships have been returned for maintaining alerts for various crimes committed in other countries.

The director of the National Migration Service, Samira Gozaine, pointed out that, among the crimes committed by these people with alerts, are rape and pedophilia.

"Migration capacities have been increased in the ports and in the Tocumen airport, which makes it easier to have the required biometric matches to be able to identify these people," said the official.

So far this cruise season, some 200,000 people have arrived on Panamanian soil between passengers and crew.
