There were open gas valves in one of the inhabited apartments of PH Costa Mare where an explosion on Friday night, May 31 sent 14  people to the hospital.

 four of them are seriously injured and two listed in critical condition.

"It was what could have caused the amount of gas in the place to accumulate," said Espirito De Frías, of the National Directorate of Fire Safety, Prevention, and Research.

In addition, he indicated that they found in an apartment remains of wax aromatic candles on the floor.

A mother and her two minor children are hospitalized. 

Originally it had been indicated that this situation happened due to an explosion. However, the Fire Department later explained that it was a deflagration, that is, by liquid fuel that expands in the environment. "This violent combustion produces an expansive wave that bursts everything that is in its path sai on the side", detailed earlier Gabriel Isaza, deputy director of the Fire Service.
