CHITRÉ, Herrera. - The alternate deputy of the 6-2 circuit (Parita, Pesé and Los Pozos), Francisco López Vargas, died from covid-19  on Saturday, July 10 at the age of 64 after being hospitalized since July 1.

He was a member of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) and was elected in May 2019 along with his running mate Julio Mendoza (main deputy).

He organized the first "Rescue and Salvage" brigades, which later became the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC).
