Costa Rica’s Supreme Court voted on Wednesday, August 8, in favor of enabling gay marriage. After. a protracted session, Chamber IV set a deadline of 18 months for same-sex marriage to enter into effect. In that period, the Legislative Assembly will have to adopt the legislation in the matter, reported La Nacion. Until that period is completed, paragraph 6 of Article 14 of the Family Code will remain in effect which prohibits equal marriage.
