At least 32 homes were totally destroyed or damaged by floods and landslides brought on by heavy rains in the in the  Cativá district of  Colón on Sunday, August 9, while in Veraguas nine children and two adults died when their home was swept away by a raging river.

The National  Civil Protection Agency (Sinaproc) warns of continuing electrical storms with strong winds and downpours through the next 48 hours.
