Panama is entering a critical stage in the fight against the coronavirus. Cases are increasing at a time when the health system and particularly its staff are feeling the wear and tear of arduous months of work and the population is feeling the social and economic consequences of the pandemic.

A group of experts analyzed the picture on the  TVN  radar program    on Sunday, June 14.

Dr. Xavier Sáez Llorens said that the objective for April and May of not exceeding hospital capacity was achieved thanks to the quarantine, although he recognized that it was unsustainable for a long time to come, so it was necessary to move forward with the reopening.

He noted that Panama has one of the lowest fatality rates in the world, and follows Chile in the largest number of tests in the region and that 25% of the population has been vaccinated against influenza.

Regarding the significant increase in the number of daily cases in the last week, the dialectologist Said  that "the impact of the reopening of the first two phases was less than the excessive the issuance of safe passages circulation on the streets, as well as the violation of the quarantine measure by a percentage of the population.
