The  shooting of  a motor-cycle delivery man by a police officer on Friday afternoon, May 29  was “legitimate defense” says a  National Police (PN) statement.

The incident  in which the delivery man was injured in the left leg went viral on social networks.

 "This afternoon [Friday] an event was registered in the administrative offices of a company located in the San Francisco district, where in a self-defense police action, one of our agents hit in the left leg  one of the three people who threatened him", said the police statement.

Preliminary reports indivate  that the confusing incident occurred when National Police agents arrived at the offices of the home delivery company Appetito24, to disperse a group of delivery men who were blocking the way.

Likewise, the institution announced that it will present the formal complaint to th Public Ministry and that it will provide all necessary support in the investigations.
