Complaints against private schools draw sanctions

Complaints formally filed against private schools with the Authority for the Protection of Consumers (Acodeco) in the last five years have been addressed, for a total amount of $1,326,762.58.

In the five years 1,290 complaints have been accumulated against different private schools.

Conditional or matched sale, the lack of clear and truthful information, without delivery of the contract and the obligatory payment of extracurricular activities, are the main reasons presented by the complainants before Acodeco.

ring the first two months of 2023, 15 complaints against private educational centers have already been registered.

While the Acodeco complaints board has received three formal complaints for $5,546.50. Two complaints ($2,855.00) and one case for lack of information ($2,661.50) were filed for refund of money. There are five complaints resolved in favor of consumers, for a total amount of $5,721.38. The reasons were lack of information; one for unfair terms and one for breach of service.

Acodeco says that any complaint or formal complaint against a private educational center can be made through the virtual assistant Sindi (Institutional Information and Complaint System) that works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through WhatsApp and Telegram at 6330-3333, the accounts of the social networks and website of the institution.
