A  12-year old boy playing in the final of a soccer tournament was killed by a stray bullet during an exchange of gunfire on Friday, February 22. Another youngster was hit in the thigh and is recovering in hospital. 

The incident took place on the playing field of the National Institute at an event "El Mundo del Barrio" organized by the New Generation Movement which works daily with children and young people in vulnerable sectors. of Panama City.

Although he was rushed to the Hospital Del Niño Hospital he died from a chest wound. The other minor, 14, remains out of danger.

the New Generation Movement said  "We are united in prayer for the soul of a footballer with of the heart, of a child filled with dreams that  came looking to score goals, and perhaps, build a better future,"

The Public Ministry and the National Police have opened an investigation.
