88,181 vehicles head to interior, 5,019 ticketed

The Directorate of Traffic Operations of the National Police counted a total of 88,181 vehicles heading for the interior of the country for Easter, and 5,019 collected tickets for speeding, proven drunkenness,  driving vehicles with inadequate lights, for talking on a cell phone, and expired licenses.

137 traffic accidents were registered, while 16 vehicles received road assistance from the Transit units, through the mobile workshop, and 202 vehicles were towed by crane.

I never drive during holidays ! The risk of dying is high on any given day due to drunk and distracted drivers, this is amplified considerably during any holiday.
