38 arrested as police raid dismantles synthetic drug lab

A laboratory manufacturing of synthetic drugs in the Betania district was dismantled on   Saturday, March 7  during  National Police operation  “ Pampa ”, that netted  38 people, nationals and foreigners, two of them minors, who were kept inside a house used for criminal activity.

Eighteen of those arrested are Panamanians, 13 Colombians, and seven Venezuelans.

 Police chief Jorge Miranda said that the operation achieved not only the dismantling of a production structure but also the distribution network,  

Prosecutor  Eduardo de la Torre fiscal in charge of the Second Prosecutor's Office Specialized in drug crimes said that it could be the first time that a laboratory dedicated to the sale, manufacture and distribution of this type of illegal substances in Panama has been dismantled.
