The United States will suspend private flights to Cuba, hardening its offensive to weigh down Havana's sources of foreign exchange, the head of US diplomacy, Mike Pompeo announced on Thursday, August 13.

"The suspension of private charters will take economic resources away from the Castro regime," Pompeo said in a statement.

Meanwhile Panama’s Ministry of Health (Minsa) is seeking to recruit Cuban doctors to join the fight against COVID-19.

And the 'Captain'.. .if you find anything of value in anything that jbbrown spews then you too must be one of those 'exceptional' gringos of whom I write so often. While I wish him no ill health, as you have posited, I truly don't miss his nutjob trumpy diatribes that add no value to any coherent conversation about real issues. You would do well to put him behind you too. Read a book or something. Turn of Fox and Breitbart.

Pompeo is only one of a cabal of people that probably comprise the most evil goverment in the world. Places like North Korea, Russia, Turkey and the Phillipines have their despotic governments, but they are in the open. The world knows their sins. But the US hides its evil under the veil of " world leader", "moral leader", "the best country in the world"!! But it is all a big lie, hiding behind a few benevolent actions, but actions always underpinned by "what is in it for us?". Also enabled by a population imbued with an unbelievably fragile sense of superiority which disguises the equally unbelievable level of ignorance of the true realities of the world. American exceptionalism which enables them to fear a little island 90 miles long to their south... to the point where they have spent the last 60 plus years persecuting a people who have never really done anything to the US other than to chart a different path for themselves. What has this policy achieved? Nothing but unnecessary pain for the Ciban people. And those Cubans who fled the country pre-revolution(I know many personally) are living very well in Florida and other parts of the US but still choose to carry the anger and hatred of the revolution. This is what drives the US animus to the island. Just like you right wing nutjobs keep telling black people to forget slavery...it ended years ago....get over it. So too should the US with respect to Cuba... GET OVER IT!! Once again AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM.. .LUNACY AND IGNORANCE. That is America!!

Editor : please note you still have a crappy server. It is impossible to gain site access. Luckily we have Panama Times where I can see the news with immediate access but I come here later to view comments which with JbBrown now presumably exiled or unwell is making it harder to justify

Oh ya

Its about time the goverment opened the country to medical people . Having a closed workforce only hurts your country because no new ideas ever come in .when for example doctors want the country closed to other doctors that tells you the doctors are scared for their jobs and know others are better doctors thus they will be unemployed , same as lawyers etc
