The fall in the demand for passengers and the fear of flying because of the coronavirus outbreak has the world's airlines, applying new measures and flexibility in their reservation policies and ticket changes.

American Airlines has announced that it suspends the charge for a surcharge in the exchange and cancellation of flights to travelers who buy tickets between March 1 and March 16.

Flexibility allows passengers to change the flight or cancel it 14 days before the scheduled date. “This change offers customers the best rates with more flexibility. The offer is available for any of the rates published by the airline.

A similar measure was announced Southwest Airlines that decided not to apply charges for changes or cancellation of flights to passengers, in the context of the situation that exists due to the outbreak of coronavirus that has forced both airlines and passengers to cancel their itineraries to most affected countries like China and some cities in Italy.

American Airlines announced last week that it suspended flights to Milan from New York and Miami. “Due to the reduction in demand, American Airlines suspends operations to and from Milan, Italy and New York (JFK) and Miami (MIA). Flights to Milan are scheduled to resume on April 25. Our teams communicate directly with the affected customers to meet their needs. American continues to review its  flight schedule to ensure that customer needs are met and will make additional improvements as necessary, ”  said Saturday, February 29 statement,

United Airlines reported for trips to northern Italy, changes will be allowed at no cost for travel until April 30. "If you travel until April 30, you can change your flight at no cost in our application," the airline said.
