The Ministry of Health (Minsa)  has announced 15 new cases of monkeypox in Panama raising the accumulated total to 48 on Tuesday, November 22.

“Of the 48, 27 cases are active in compliance with isolation. Of these 27 active cases, five are hospitalized due to their clinical condition and risk factors; 22 carry out home isolation”, the report detailed.

According to the Minsa, the new cases correspond to the male sex, between the ages of 25 and 59, and come from the metropolitan health region, Panama West and San Miguelito.

Regional health teams carry out field investigations in order to determine the close contacts of the cases and offer them vaccination against monkeypox to break the chain of transmission of the virus and the spread of the disease.
