Panama covid death rate third on continent

With 32 deaths in 24 hours, the COVID-19 fatal victims total,  reached,1,159  on Tuesday, July 21 but while the fatality rate of the country is 2.1%, placing Panama as the third nation in the Americas with the lowest death rate from the disease.

There are currently 23,919 patients of which, 1,320 are hospitalized, 1,156 are in wards and 164 are in intensive care.

192,085 tests have been carried out (58,039 positive and 134,046 negative). This Tuesday, 2,144 samples were applied.

I srael Cedeño, director of the Metropolitan Health Region, reported that the Rt or real transmission rate of the virus has shown a drop to  1.23%.

The upward curve of hospitalized and intensive care patients continues

“For every 100, 80% can handle themselves quite safely at home, 20% require hospitalization and 5% must go to intensive care," said Social Security director, Enrique Lau Cortés.
