Panama cabinet approves Coronavirus alert

Panama ‘s Cabinet Council approved on Tuesday, March 3, a resolution to raise the alert for the coronavirus epidemic, which is spreading throughout the world, in accordance with international requirements.

The announcement came as Argentina and Chile announced their first cases the US death toll in Washington State reached  9, deaths in Italy passed the 50 marks and Spain recorded its first death. While the World Bank announced a contingency fund of 12 billion for the coronavirus.

The Minister of Health, Rosario Turner, explained that the approval of the alert that the World Health Organization (WHO) has presented due to the risk of the new coronavirus was approved. "This allows us to have the support of the Ministry of Security and have more resources."

Turner said that among the actions to prevent the coronavirus is to have economic resources (apart from the already authorized million dollars ) with about $3 million more.

The minister said that no cases of coronavirus have been registered in Panama.
