Health Ministry confirms 12th case of monkeypox

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) confirmed on Monday, September 5  the twelfth case of monkeypox in Panama. The infected person presented fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, and vesicle-like lesions in various parts of his body On September 2, he went to the Rómulo Roux health center in Pueblo Nuevo in search of medical attention. Samples were taken and sent to the Gorgas Memorial Institute, resulting in monkeypox detection.

All relevant epidemiological surveillance was immediately activated and the traceability and rapid response teams began their work to detect more affected people.

On May 24, a health alert was declared in the country, and “epidemiological surveillance has been redoubled in all health regions and all entry points into the national territory”  there are more than 50,000, cases.
