Health Ministry confirms 11th case of monkeypox

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) confirmed on Friday, September 2, the 11th case of monkeypox, upon detecting the virus in a 34-year-old foreign man.

According to the Minsa Epidemiology Directorate, the traceability applied to the person showed that the last close contact of this patient was on August 21 with a foreign person.

According to the report of the Health authorities, the patient began with symptoms on August 27, presenting papular and vesicular lesions in various areas of his body.

Samples of the lesions were sent for to the Gorgas Memorial Institute, which confirmed the case of monkeypox.

The Minsa recalled that the transmission of monkeypox is spread from person to person; It can be produced by skin lesions, from one infected person to another, respiratory and body fluids and also through infected clothing or any surface that has had contact with the lesions.
