The General Congress of Guna Culture has issued a resolution that could lead to a confrontation with the Ministry of Health (Minsa)as it struggles to contain the coronavirus which has already hilled over 2,600 citizens.

The resolution prohibits the use of masks, both for residents, officials, and visitors, who according to the document must respect the cultural traditions of this region.

The decision is made at a time when the Ministry emphasizes complying with health measures including the mandatory wearing of a mask.

In the congress resolution issued on October 22, the Guna Cultural Congress also provides for other actions such as suppressing the Covid-19 community health committees and lifting the quarantine throughout the county territory.

The document, says  that the local Gunas authorities have felt that their decision-making authority has been violated by the Health committees and claims that

they are supported in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms recognized in the United Nations Charter.

According to the latest Minsa report  the Guna Yala region registers 889 accumulated cases since the pandemic arrived in the country.

Let it not be said that I don’t attempt to represent both sides of the “mask” controversy (even though I remain opposed—we’re all gonna die one day, one way or another and the “cure” should never be worse than the disease): “ The equation [Drake equation] has been used to inspire a new model, the Contagion Airborne Transmission (CAT) inequality, to determine whether someone is likely to "catch" COVID-19, according to a newly published study in the scientific journal Physics of Fluids. There's still much confusion about the transmission pathways of COVID-19. This is partly because there is no common 'language' that makes it easy to understand the risk factors involved," study co-author and Johns Hopkins professor Rajat Mittal said in a statement. "What really needs to happen for one to get infected? If we can visualize this process more clearly and in a quantitative manner, we can make better decisions about which activities to resume and which to avoid. The CAT inequality breaks down the risk of transmission into 10 variables, including the breathing rates of both the infected and noninfected persons, the amount of virus-carrying droplets expelled, the surrounding environment, as well as how long the person is exposed. When multiplied together, these inputs "yield a calculation of the possibility that an individual will be infected with COVID-19," the statement added. The researchers also estimate the risk in certain scenarios, including when people work out or when masks are worn (or aren't). When exercising in a confined space, the researchers found that the risk of transmission "increases by a factor of 200," Mittal said. Conversely, if people wear N95 masks, the risk of transmission drops by a factor of 400, or the risk of someone getting the virus is less than 1%. Cloth masks also "significantly reduce transmission probability," the researchers' mode found. Social distancing also has a "linear correlation" to risk, meaning that if you double the distance between an infected person and noninfected person, the risk is reduced by half. “

Now, this is something to look into (research anyone? Captain?). Just read it today: “ The blue typical mask depicted in the photograph contain Teflon and other chemicals. A Facebook friend reminds us: 1. Masks are “sterilized” with Ethylene Oxide — a known carcinogen. Many teachers in various school boards have been experiencing significant symptoms as a direct result of the effects of this chemical. 2. The masks contain (not sprayed with) PTFE which makes up Teflon along with other chemicals. I found and have posted the US patent to allow manufacturers to use PTFE as a filter in commercial masks… “breathing these for extended periods can lead to lung cancer.” Don’t agree? Argue with the experts at OSHA, which is the main US agency, i.e., its Occupational Health & Safety Agency. You may hear people saying that surgeons and nurses wear masks like this all day. Um, no. No they don’t. They’re trained in the proper use of masks, which is to wear them in the OR, then dispose of the mask when they leave that room. Are you aware that operating rooms are actually supplied extra oxygen, to compensate for the reduction in oxygen flow from mask wearing? ”

Brian, I just watched the YouTube link. The presenter, an opponent of face masks, has cited many “experts” in what could be referred to as anecdotal versus the situation of an extensive (6000 participants) study aimed at determining the effectiveness of face masks against the spread of the coronavirus because it was not “peer reviewed” and the scientific journals are being accused of suppressing the results. Many traditional therapies have been effective but have never been never reviewed. ‘Non mainstream medicine’ comes to mind — holistic and other alternative as examples—very effective but not peer reviewed. Also, face mask study is not like a drug or a vaccine—it should not have to have a peer review while this extensive a study should warrant mention in a publication — unless other factors such as going against what the authorities want to present plays a role (probability high)

While what you state is correct, there is much more to this story that your comment. It seems if a subject is too controversial, amongst other reasons, the publication of findings accumulated from 6000 participants ... “‘two-arm, unblinded, randomised controlled trial’ that ‘will include adults (>18 years of age) without prior confirmed COVID-19 or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, who spend more than three hours per day outside the home with exposure to other people. ‘. Six thousand participants were randomly assigned to use face masks or not for a 30-day period during the pandemic. The results would be based on the difference in the number of individuals infected with the virus within the two study groups. This is the world's largest study of its kind and is expected to be included as an important factor in the basis for government decisions regarding the use of masks," *** if the results of such a study cannot be published, how can you or I be aware of it, unless of course you are only interested in what requirements of these journals want to impose on what we are allowed to evaluate for our own health and safety. It always comes down to Big Brother making life determinations for us. This is akin to censorship.

Captain, the data has been debunked?? No, data has been suppressed/censored. I refer to a large and unique Danish mask study that was rejected from publication in 3 journals—a study the media and researchers around the world have been waiting to find out on the effect or lack thereof of wearing a mask in public during a corona pandemic. The failure to allow publication of the results has created a conundrum for the researchers and the journals — “we [the Danish researchers] cannot start discussing what they [journal editors] are dissatisfied with, because in that case, we must also explain what the study showed and we don’t want to discuss that until it is published.” This seems reasonable—since when do medical journals get to critique a study rather than just publishing it and allowing other researchers to give input, confirm results or oppose them based on their own works. Appears to be censorship and a way to stymie transparent studies. The matter of wearing a mask is probably objectionable to many as it represents freedom lost; since when does an authority have the right to dictate what one wears? is the next step to state everyone must eat broccoli? Some feel a mask is an obstacle to intimacy—one cannot fully read expressions so a great part of communication is lost. And some truly feel mask wearing makes them feel light-headed and disoriented, possibly with headaches from continued use. Now, my position is: I’m sick and tired of one group of scientists disagreeing with another; one group of doctors countering another in treatment or therapeutics; one country’s’ government disagreeing on another country’s approach; one group of CFR statistics opposing another. When you guys get your act together, maybe we’ll make our own decisions based on common sense, which seems to be in short supply with those who think they should be in charge of our lives.

To be clear , this is an ongoing novel coronavirus. That means it’s new and nobody knows how it’s going to pan out. We are daily learning new things about it and as a consequence neither you or Dr Fauci can be right on every single occasion. The rules and recommendations will change all the time as new new elements come to light. It’s inevitable as there is no text book you can open to see what to do .. there are going to be medications that are tried and succeed ..others that don’t. You have the enviable role of sitting in the middle of a pandemic and just sniping at those trying to help us

Dr Fauci has NOT said masks are useless, just the opposite in fact. He was clear that thousands of lives could be saved by their use and suggested it be mandated. Please look at the success in Asia. This is not political but a matter of medical importance to protect yourself and others. Ironically the same argument was made in 1918 where you were jailed for non compliance in the States. I repeat look at their use in Japan, Taiwan, etc. It’s the norm ...why the hell are we still arguing about it.

Those stats on mask wearing were not correctly presented and have been twisted out of context. It relied on people saying that “ oh I always wear a mask “. Whether that was a true statement or not could not be truthfully verified. Where, when. Etc were all missing. The data has since been debunked

You wear masks in cars so that you are protected ,as is the official, in the event you are stopped by authorities. The incidence of Covid amongst security services is high. To protect them and yourselves from infection whilst you wind down your window and fumble for a mask is the reason for this and has nothing to do with car occupants.

Wenny, you have your stats backwards. CDC Report: 70.6% of COVID Patients Always Wore a Mask A CDC report of people who became ill with COVID-19 showed that 70.6% always wore a mask in the 14 days before they got sick, further calling into question the effectiveness of masks for preventing COVID-19, a controversial practice that's been mandated in many parts of the world.

EXCELLENT THEY ARE STANDING UP TO THE TYRANNY HAPPENING! https://153news.net/watch_video.php?v=RDDSD2B2UOMX America’s Frontline Doctors Summit II (Early treatment works almost 100%) https://www.americasfrontlinedoctors.com/ Website with research and protocols for saving lives that are being purposely suppressed from humanity by criminals. In addition research on why masks do not work. Here is the actual science that dictates masks do not work conclusively and in fact you will uncover the science how harmful they are to humanity to be wearing daily. Why have governments adopted a policy of harming its citizens and residents with a FORCED MASK WEARING POLICY that is NOT based on well-known science? This needs to be investigated immediately in light of the science proves the population is being harmed both short term and long-term with increased risk of cardiovascular failure and increased risk of cancer! In addition to both of those it is widely accepted that serious immune suppression is caused by a 20% decrease in oxygen and extremely high hazardous levels of CO2! The deadly consequences of mask wearing causes more harm if somebody is actually sick by the forced increase in viral load through recirculation of the virus back into the body which further increases the individual risk of mortality! Finally, 100% of people are being forced to wear masks are being put under pulmonary stress levels without medical testing of each person to insure they can sustain this additional dangerous pulmonary stress levels induced through forced mask wearing polices. Mask wearing places extreme stress upon the lungs and body systems resulting in both short term and long term disease processes, this is an extremely dangerous practice. https://153news.net/watch_video.php?v=SY297HAS7HMW Occupational Professionals discuss the dangers of masks. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1--j-0UfXUM43SZVX2jy0AtlvDzPOM65-X8dbBpF3mOM/edit “The Anti-Mask Manifesto” by Dr. Matt Cucolo (A Science Based Guide Against Mandatory Mask Wear) https://swprs.org/face-masks-evidence/ Are Face Masks Effective? The Evidence. Review of the Medical Literature Here are key anchor points to the extensive scientific literature that establishes that wearing surgical masks and respirators (e.g., “N95”) does not reduce the risk of contracting a verified illness: Jacobs, J. L. et al. Face mask use in HCW was not demonstrated to provide benefit in terms of cold symptoms or getting colds. Cowling, B. et al. See summary Tables 1 and 2 therein. bin-Reza et al.
