From next Monday, June 7, the curfew in the health regions of Panama and San Miguelito will be from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am, said Health, Minister Luis Francisco Sucre on  Monday, June 1.

Sucre explained that the measure is due to the increase in Covid-19 cases . "The indicators are on the rise and the virus is gaining ground," he added.

Due to the new curfew hours, shops must close at 9:00 p.m.

On June 8, when the match between the soccer teams of Panama and the Dominican Republic will be held, at 8:00 pm, an exception will be made so that fans who attend the game can return home when the game ends.

The inter-institutional team met with the Joint Task Force, Sucre said, to reinforce surveillance in areas where the number of cases has increased in the metropolitan region, such as the townships of San Francisco, Betania, Don Bosco, Juan Díaz, Bella Vista, and Parque Lefevre.

In the district of San Miguelito, a significant increase in the number of cases has also been reported, mainly in the townships of Rufina Alfaro, Amelia Denis de Icaza, José Domingo Espinar, and Omar Torrijos, the minister stressed.
