For many Panamanians, the Caja de Ahorros  (Savings Bank) was the first bank they knew, the one that taught them how to save and have credit. Thanks to this state bank, tens of thousands of families were able to acquire their home, and young professionals reached their educational goals of the cordial hand of the bank of Zambo

In a dark moment that should never be repeated, the funds of the Savings Bank went to a brokerage or served to finance dubious transactions of relatives of the government in office[Martinelli].
