ONE PERSON  has been arrested for illegal logging in La Amistad Park in Chiriquí.

The investigation was prompted by a complaint filed by a resident.

The Ministry of the Environment is assisting with the investigation.

The park which  is in Panama and Costa Rica is  a UNESCO world heritage site due to the importance and diversity of its ecosystem. Logging is prohibited inside its border.

That was my point. I really resent the UN being involved to this degree. Yea, Obama probably has first dibs.

I know Costa Rica is ultra strict on logging. They say it's for the environment but probably, knowing Costa Rica, it's more that they haven't been able to tax those prohibited logs from being sold on the black market. And let's not forget the U.N. Executive Secretary on Climate Change is Costa Rica's own Christiana Figueres who now has her sights on the upcoming position of U.N. Secretary General. Does she not know Obama has his eye on that same position? IMO, both and the Agency itself needs to go into permanent retirement.

I'm just curious by whom it is prohibited to log. It is Panama, Costa Rica or the U.N.
