Danilo Pérez, founder of The Panama Jazz Festival was at the 61st edition of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles  on Sunday, February 10  as part of The Wayne Shorter Quartet, a collective that won the best instrumental jazz album “Emanon”

"It was very emotional to be at the Grammys because we were together with the family of each one of us," says Pérez, via email.

"It was exciting, something incredible being on stage before an audience made up of the biggest music industry in the United States and the world, and being close to the creator of The Wayne Shorter Quartet. The tears came to me because we could be with our mentor Wayne Shorter celebrating this triumph in life," he added.
